Remember I told you it was time to step up your hot chocolate game last week?
Well here is the recipe to help you do that!
I made this absolutely decadent hot chocolate that’s richer and creamier than any hot coco anyone has ever given me. Topped with homemade marshmallows you really can’t go wrong. Add a little baileys and you might just faint. I pinky promise you will never regret making this even though it has whole milk or heavy cream in it…it makes it so much better than the mix with water your Mom used to make you (no offense, Moms).
I hope everyone had an absolutely fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday! I know I did because I am now perpetually starving. I stretched my stomach out and then some…and It was worth it! Mikey and I packed in as much friend and family time as humanly possible and we wouldn’t have had it any other way!
I know your schedules are beginning to fill up…but maybe you can add this to your next get-together menu…it won’t disappoint!
Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon Cornstarch
2 Pinches of Salt
2 Cups Half and Half or 1 Cup Whole Milk and 1 Cup Heavy Cream
6 Ounces Bittersweet Chocolate (60% cacao) Broken into small pieces
2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Directions:
Whisk cornstarch and salt in a small saucepan. Pour milk into saucepan and whisk all together over medium heat making sure cornstarch dissolves.
Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly and as soon as it boils turn to a simmer, whisking continuously for another minute.
Remove the pan from the heat and add chocolate. Let sit for a minute to melt. Once melted, whisk until there are no clumps. Add cocoa powder and vanilla and mix until combined.
You can at this point add some Baileys, Creamer or other alcohol of your choice! We topped ours with homemade vanilla bean marshmallows.
It was by far the best cup of hot chocolate either of us had ever had!
P.s. You can also use all whole milk or 2%…it’s not as good but still delicious!
This looks SO INCREDIBLE. I might be whipping some up later. Thanks. 🙂
