Halloween is just around the corner so I figured I would share this cute cheese ball with you!
It is a mixture of cheese, cumin, jalapeno, salsa and onion rolled in crushed Dorito chips.
This would be a super fun appetizer at any Halloween, harvest or fall party. You could even serve it as an appetizer before Thanksgiving dinner.
It’s easy, fun and delicious. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to buy a bag of Doritos. I served this with blue corn tortilla chips (because they looked festive) but then we also used leftover Doritos and crackers to dip into this ball as well. It would also taste great with apple slices.
I hope you are enjoying this (freezing) fall weather! Do you have any favorite cheese ball or fall appetizer recipes? I’d love if you shared them with me! I’m always on the hunt for delicious appetizers!
Recipe: Pumpkin Cheese Ball
16 Oz Cream Cheese, Softened
1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
4 Tablespoons Onion, Minced
3 Tablespoons Salsa
3 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
2 Teaspoons Jalapeno, Minced
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 Bag Nacho Cheese Doritos
The Stem of 1 Bell Pepper
Combine softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, onion, cumin, jalapeno, salsa, salt and pepper in a small bowl and combine with a hand mixer.
Roll into a ball on a piece of plastic wrap and place into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or the freezer for about 30-40 minutes.
In a bag or bowl, smash about 2 cups of Doritos into small pieces. Once cheese ball has hardened, roll into Dorito crumbs and press bell pepper stem into the top of the ball.
Serve in the center of a plate surrounded by blue corn tortilla chips!
NOTE: You can make this a day in advance, just make sure you refrigerate and then remove to let it soften about 30 minutes before serving. You can also add more or less of any of the ingredients and spices to make the ball fit your taste.
