Banana Bread with Cinnamon Sugar Crumble

Banana Bread is my favorite bread in the whooollleeee world.

I have devoured many different banana breads and tested lots of banana bread recipes and this is the BEST!

I need you to trust me when I say that this is the best!

Just make this bread.

It’s easy and so delicious.

The bananas and honey make the bread sweet and super moist.

Honey is so hip these days.

As I mentioned before in my butterscotch banana bread, I always buy bananas thinking Mikey will eat one. But he never does.

I asked him if he likes bananas and I got a very typical Mikey answer.

“Ya, I eat bananas”.

So I asked why he never eats them. Pretty sure he didn’t answer that second part.

That is my life.

So needless to say, I have a freezer full of black bananas.

This is what they look like while they defrost:

Meet Norman.

He is a rambunctious little devil.

We love him.

And he loves to eat anything he can possibly get his paws on.

He is a true Evon.

A man after Mikeys own heart.

This is the sugar/cinnamon topping that gets sprinkled over the top of the batter.

Pop it in the oven for about 1 hour.

Yummmm

The sugar/cinn topping gets crunchy and caramelized.

Prepare to eat the most delicious bread ever.

I always use a lot of banana. I probably used about a cup and a half, rather than the 1 cup the recipe calls for.

I just love the banana taste and the fact that there are banana chunks that are super gooey.

See that dark brown part on the bottom?

Caramelized banana baby.

Let me know if you agree about this bread being the best. I love hearing from you.

It honestly makes my day!!

Hope you have an amazing weekend!!!

I’m headed up to Green Bay, Wisco!!!

One of our best friends, Joe, is home from CA and we are having a pool party with all of our college friends.

And don’t worry, Aunt Bonnie is taking care of the little ginger, Norman.

Love ya sis 🙂

Recipe: Banana Bread with Cinnamon Sugar Crumble

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. salt

1 cup mashed ripe banana (about 3 medium bananas. I usually do a bit more than a cup for extra flavor/moisture)

2 large eggs

½ cup vegetable oil

¼ cup honey

¼ cup water

For Topping:

2 Tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

2 ½ Tbsp. packed dark brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Butter and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Do not use any pan smaller than a 9×5, it will be too small and overflow. A 10×3 inch pan would work as well.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. In a mixer, combine the banana, eggs, oil, honey, and water.

Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined.

pour batter into the prepared pan.

In a small bowl, combine topping ingredients (sugars and cinnamon).

Sprinkle evenly over the batter and place in oven for about 1 hour.

Let bread cool completely before removing it from the pan otherwise the center may fall due to the sugar topping.

This bread is amazing by itself, but if you warm it in the microwave for a few seconds it’s even better!

You can also eat it with warm with butter, jam, peanut butter or cream cheese!

I can’t figure out where I got this recipe!! I found it somewhere on the internet and it has changed my world, so thanks to whomever shared this recipe!

  1. This is great! Can’t wait to try it… And we actually have some over-ripe bananas at our house (which NEVER happens… my kids LOVE bananas! I think it’s because they’re part-monkey… They get that from their father.). 😉 Thanks for sharing, B!

  2. OMG OMG OMG. I got a shout out. My life is complete. Love you more. And your little munchkin who scratched my leg… I will try to forgive him. Oh yeah, delicious bread, you are amazing!
